A few new science articles
My review of mathematician John D. Barrows new book "The Infinite Book" was published in the San Francisco Chronicle today. This was an opportunity for me to rife on one of my favorite subjects, the overlapping of faith and science, which has absolutely nothing to do with "intelligent design." See: "What we definitely know about the endlessly possible"
In this month's CITRIS newsletter, I write about a fascinating program to map the Pacific Ocean using marine life, like sea lions and sharks, equipped with sensors and, in some cases, satellite transmitters. It's called TOP (Tagging of Pacific pelagic) and you can watch the daily progress of a wide range of species as they migrate, mate, forage for food, and sleep almost live on topics Web site. See: "These researchers have flippers"
In the same newsletter, I also write about a new kind of vertical seismic array being developed.
